Remi Dalton
Ghosted
2019
digital print
Ghosted is part of my Dream House painting series, which depicts the refuge of a contemporary romantic hero who isolates themselves in a space halfway between the digital and physical world. The work deals with issues of privacy and surveillance, love and safety and isolation and community. Emoji ghosts allude to an equally cute and creepy haunted house, filled with the ghosts of ex’s past and snapchat stalkers. A sewn in text in the armchair commands the viewer to leave, while delicious but desperate conversations hearts beg them to stay.
