ABOUT THIS EXHIBITION:

When faced with the challenge of transferring our courses to a safe remote format we had to figure out how to maintain the integrity of our Museum Studies/Gallery Exhibitions Skills course and teach the curatorial, promotional and installation skills. The art gallery is usually the site for a Museum Studies curated exhibition but because the campus is closed the gallery space would be off limits. Instead Professor Alessandra Moctezuma envisioned an outdoor exhibition where students could learn the same skills. The larger California artist community was invited to participate through Call for Artists distributed in Social Media. Students selected from over 45 submissions and they were responsible for all aspects of the exhibition: writing the press release, creating a website, catalog and self-guided audio tour and designing the layout of the drive-thru experience. We are excited about this opportunity to highlight artists’ works even if it is in this physically distant format due to the pandemic.
